Seven design graduates from NID were hired to cover the states.. Bengal, Bihar and Orissa, North Eastern States, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Kerala and Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. Each of these persons had a working knowledge of his/her region. Six volumes of stone documentation were compiled for the Government and Craft Council archives. With the generous financial assistance granted by the Department of Culture, Government of India, data from these documents were published in two volumes in book form titled "Stone Craft of India".
